# Cross-chain PT bridge

The Spectra PT bridge transfers Principal Token exposure between Stellar and EVM networks. The original token is locked on its home network and a wrapped representation is minted on the destination network. Returning the position burns the wrapper and unlocks the original.

## Four transfer paths [#four-transfer-paths]

| Direction | Source action | Destination action |
| ----------------- | ------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| EVM PT to Stellar | Lock the EVM PT. | Mint a Stellar wrapped PT. |
| Back to EVM | Burn the Stellar wrapper. | Unlock the original EVM PT. |
| Stellar PT to EVM | Lock the Stellar PT. | Mint an EVM wrapped PT. |
| Back to Stellar | Burn the EVM wrapper. | Unlock the original Stellar PT. |

Bridge fees are charged on the source side. Each side also applies configured volume limits before completing a transfer.

## Messaging and trust [#messaging-and-trust]

Messenger adapters carry the cross-chain instruction. The bridge supports Axelar on both sides and includes an EVM LayerZero adapter; it does not include a Stellar LayerZero adapter.

Before bridging:

* Validate the destination address, including the full Stellar StrKey checksum when applicable.
* Check fees, output limits, gas requirements, supported networks, and current rate-limit capacity.
* Confirm the canonical bridge release and deployed addresses.

See the [bridge integration reference](https://dev.spectra.finance/docs/stellar/bridge) for architecture and release requirements.
